What Are Pillager Outposts in Minecraft

As alluded to above, visiting a Pillager Outpost is handy for several different reasons. Essentially, they’re a large camp full of angry Pillagers to fight, and beating one can yield lots of potential goodies, including treasure and Ally Mobs. Most importantly, they also contain Pillager leaders, who, once killed, will see your character harvest the Bad Omen status effect, which in turn can be used to start raids.

Finding Pillager Outposts

If you’re looking for a shortcut way to find a Pillager Outpost and don’t mind using commands, simply type “/locate pillager outpost” and the nearest one’s coordinates will be shown. For those who want to find them without that cheat or when playing survival mode, there’s not actually a hard and fast rule to locating them. That said, there are a few things to keep in mind. A pillager outpost can spawn in any biome where a village also can, given that they always spawn near a village. That said, there are two biomes where villages don’t spawn where Pillager Outpost can be found. These are the Peaks and Grove biomes. In our experience, the Plains and Desert biomes are your best bet to find one. That’s because you’ll see the tall towers of the Pillager outpost from a good distance when you’re out exploring and those two biomes obviously feature large, wide-open spaces. Also, for similar reasons, we wouldn’t recommend searching in the Taiga biomes since it’s so difficult to see through the vegetation. So, there you have it. We hope this helped clue you in on how to find a pillager outpost in Minecraft. If we hear any more info, we’ll be sure to update this guide.
